COLUMBIA, KY -- Because of the extreme weather conditions of cold temperatures, rain and wind the Lindsey Wilson Track Inv. meet was modified with several events not contested because of safety issues.  Spring Arbor University Women's team was able to battle for 5th place out of 12 teams scoring 66 points with Campbellsville University winning the event with 119 points.

Leading the charge for the SAU Lady Cougars was event winners: the 4x100m Relay team of Ellie Reynolds, Amanda, Luurtsema, Jessica Czinder & Jessica Lee in 51.54 and Sarah Fredrick in the 800m with a time of 2.30.77.

In the 100m dash, freshman Amanda Luurtsema placed third running into a head wind with a time of 13.20, and sophomore Mallory Davis finished in eighth with a time of 13.89 seconds.

Faith Gunderson and Mary Lehman finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the 400m dash with times of 1:04.24 and 1:05.23.

Kate Jones and Lindsey Velich raced in the 1500m finishing fourth and seventh for the Cougars clocking time of 5:26.48 and 5:50.90.

Kayla Finkbeiner finished sixth in the High Jump with a leap of 4'6.

Liz Brueggeman finished third in the Long Jump with a distance of 14'9 ¼".

Rebecca Stefaniak finished second with a throw of 94'9 in the Javelin.

"I am very proud of the team with the efforts that were given despite the weather conditions," said Head Coach, Mark Miller.  "We are looking forward to next week at Huntington with the team competing at full strength and hopefully in better weather conditions."

The Huntington Invitational, in Huntington, IN will start on Saturday, April 5 at 12:00 noon.
