MANCHESTER, IN. - The Spring Arbor University Track Team competed in the Spartan Classic and sharpened up for the Crossroads League Championships later this month. The meet was hosted by Manchester University on Thursday, April 17.

A highlight for the team was the 5K event with Nathan Anderson and Dan Garza taking the top two spots in the race. Anderson finished with a time of 15:55 and Garza clocked a 15:57.

"It was a 42 second PR," said Anderson. "It was super helpful to have Garza there."

Other significant efforts on the distance side included Tyler Neu and Peter Ramundo in the 1500m. Both runners achieved personal records with Neu running a 4:10 and Ramundo's time coming in at 4:15.

Chris Conrad won the 800m finishing with a 1:58 and Logan Boote ran a PR in the same event with a time of 2:07.

"There were lots of good things on the sprint side today," said Head Coach, Dante Ottolini. "Our 4x100 relay ran together for the first time, and it was great to see them get the baton around the track." The relay consisted of Max Watters, Zach Murray, Kelly Maxwell, and Mitch Hession and they finished with a time of 43.94.

Watters had a PR in the 200, running 22.92.

Both 4x400 relay teams ran well, according to Ottolini as Waters, Conrad, Ian Miller, and Mike Forsythe ran the relay in 3:23.  Anderson, Bobby McCoy, Kaleb Powell, and Taylor Swihart also ran, finishing at 3:27.

Austin Hundley had his best day in both the javelin and discus. He threw 35.9 meters in the javelin and placed fifth, and in the discus, he threw 34.83 meters and placed fourth.

The meet was the last chance for the team to prepare before conference finals, which will take place at Marion University on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26.
